Concept in 60: English

I used to be very strict about my grammar, then I found out that it literally doesn’t matter and that there’s no one steering the ship so I figured I’d pass that info on to you so that the next time someone corrects you, you can tell them why you’re not technically wrong

  1. I really enjoyed your video! I agree, English is so linguistically complicated and annoying. Moreover, I thought it was interesting how you talk about the sociology of language and the idea that language evolves as a result of our social constructions and understandings. Nicely done!

  2. Your video was very interesting and informative! I enjoyed how you gave a real example of how our English language is so susceptible to change and how people have a lot of power when it comes to how they use the english language. I think another good example of this is how people speak on social media or via text with slang words and acronyms. You made good points with this concept!

  3. Cool video, Devon! It reminds me of the videos that John Green ( The Fault in Our Stars) and his brother have made about English language and literature. ~Joe
